"How Mentally Tough are You" - January 27, 2008 I would like to ask you, can you run until you pass out? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I will explain. Do you know how strong you would have to be mentally to fight through the pain in your mind and body to continue to push to get better. In sports we tend to give up on things when our mind tells us that we can't. How can your really know if you can; if you never done it before. While working out you will notice people get tired and quit and take a break then finish. If that is good for you or them then how will they ever get better. When times are hard in life do you take a break then come back to it later. I believe that sports teaches a person a lot about life. I have to be strong mentally to know that If I drop one ball that I am not going to drop the next one. I have to know that when I am tired I have to keep going to help my team. I can't just come off the field and say I will go back out there next series. My mind will always tell me I am tired before my body starts to hurt. In life, when faced with a problem I face it and keep going. How many people fold when faced with a problem that seems to big at first. Mental toughness comes from within, you can't allow your mind to tell you that your body's tired or that you can't do something. Believe that you can, and believe that when you think you can't you can. The difference between winners and losers is the fact that losers don't face problems, and winners overcome them. I don't know if any one has ever said that, but I am saying it today. If I am the first then quote Nik Lewis, but If I am not I give them props for saying it. My Thoughts, Your Time, Thanks For Reading. Nik L. |
